Effective July 28, 2012, Act 54, Pennsylvania's Primary Stroke Center designation legislation was enacted. Reference Statewide Protocols 706 and 181. UPMC Hamot, St. Vincent Hospital, Meadville Medical Center, & UPMC Northwest (Statewide Centers) have been identifed as Primary Stroke Centers within the EMMCO West region.

Pa's Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC) has approved the final draft of the Act 37 Rules & Regulations. Act 37 was signed into Law in July 2009. The approval of the regulations will allow the Commonwealth of Pa to fully implement the law. While some aspects of the law are already in effect, the majority of the law will be implemented in 180 days after they appear in the PA Bulletin.
