From The Ambulance Association of Pennsylvania A Call To Action In response to Pennsylvania’s EMS crisis and the June 2023 Senate hearing, the Ambulance Association of Pennsylvania (AAP) formed an EMS Workforce and Solutions Group to unite stakeholders in strengthening the EMS system. Participants included AAP Board members, regional council representatives, Bureau of EMS staff, and state legislators. Key issues discussed included workforce hiring and compensation, fair reimbursement from insurance plans, and local funding for EMS services. AAP developed the “Access to EMS and Patient Billing Protections” document to ensure a unified advocacy effort, highlighting concerns like the exclusion of EMS funding in Governor Shapiro’s 2025/2026 budget. To push for legislative change, AAP urges members to engage with state and local representatives. A “Day on the Hill” is scheduled for May 13, 2025, at the Pennsylvania State Capitol, including a press conference and meetings with legislators. Members are encouraged to spread the message and rally support. Learn More... Read "Access to EMS and Patient Billing Protections”. |
